Xbox controller test

Check every Xbox input in one clean view.

Use the familiar standard mapping to verify A/B/X/Y, bumpers, triggers, sticks and directional controls on Xbox Series, Xbox One and compatible PC controllers.

Polling rate is inferred from Gamepad API timestamp changes. It is useful for comparison, not proof of end-to-end hardware latency.

Repeatable diagnosis

Controller Health Report

Measure ten seconds of untouched stick input, compare a before and after result, then export a local report.

For a comparable result, place the controller on a stable surface and do not touch either stick.

Sampling and exports run locally. Shared links contain only aggregate values in the URL fragment; they omit the controller name and raw input history.

How to get a reliable result

01

Connect to the computer

Use USB, the Xbox Wireless Adapter or Bluetooth. Press a button after the page loads so the browser exposes the gamepad.

02

Sweep every control

Press each button, move both sticks to their full edge and slowly pull LT and RT from zero to full travel.

03

Inspect the resting state

Release all controls and confirm buttons return to zero and both stick points settle inside your chosen deadzone.

Numbers that actually help

Browser tests are best for repeatable comparisons. Use the same cable, port, browser, and controller state before judging a change.

02

Interpret the test

Interpret Xbox inputs through the standard PC mapping.

Xbox controllers usually expose a predictable browser layout, but transport, firmware and remapping software can still change what reaches the page.

Check the XInput-style layout systematically

Press A, B, X and Y one at a time, followed by the bumpers, D-pad, View, Menu and stick clicks. Pull LT and RT slowly to confirm that each analog value rises smoothly and returns to zero. Extra Elite paddles may be remapped to existing controls by firmware or Xbox Accessories and may not appear as separate browser buttons.

Compare USB, Bluetooth and the Wireless Adapter

Treat each connection method as a separate test session. Keep the same computer, browser and motion, then record whether a missing input or unstable update rate follows the controller across transports. A direct data-capable USB cable is a useful reference; Bluetooth and the Xbox Wireless Adapter use different host paths and should not be assumed to behave identically.

Separate firmware and remapping from hardware faults

Confirm the controller in Xbox Accessories or the operating system, update firmware, and temporarily close Steam Input or other remappers before repeating the browser test. If one game behaves differently while the browser and other games remain stable, inspect that game's profile, trigger thresholds and deadzone before deciding that the controller needs repair.

Frequently asked questions

Which Xbox controllers are supported?

Most Xbox Series, Xbox One, Xbox Elite and XInput-compatible controllers can be read when the operating system and browser expose them.

Why is my controller not detected?

Confirm it appears in the operating system, try a data-capable cable, press a controller button, focus this tab and use a current desktop Chrome or Edge build.

Can I test trigger travel?

Yes. LT and RT are shown as analog bars when the browser exposes them through the standard button mapping.

Can the website recalibrate an Xbox controller?

No. This page diagnoses input. Use official Xbox accessories software or supported operating-system calibration tools to change settings.
